15 Waltham Butternut Squash Seeds
*All seeds 100% Guaranteed

Waltham is an improved version of the common Butternut Squash that was bread in the 1960's.

Very reliable, productive and a long keeper. It has very little seed cavity, thicker and straighter
necks and fruits earlier and produces more flesh per fruit. The flesh stays firm when cooked & stores well.

You can grow Waltham Squash up to 12 weeks prior to Autumn frosts giving you a longer growing period.

If you are short on space, these are great to grow in containers.

Sow seeds indoors or directly and plant/transplant after risk of frost has passed.

Sow 1/2 to 1 inch deep and cover with fine compost. Firm lightly & keep moist.

Plant out after risk of frost has passed.

Germination 10 to 14 days.

Matures 90 days

Maintain moisture as Squash plants have shallow root systems and mulch helps retain moisture.

Keep well watered especially during the dry spells and they need 1 to 2 inches of water per week during
the growing season.

Companion plant Sunflowers, Cosmos, Zinnias & such to attract bee pollinators for more fruits.

Harvest when fruits are small and the skin is shiny. Harvest often to keep Summer Squash producing more fruits.

To pick, give the fruit a gentle twist until it snaps off.

Male Squash blossoms are delicious and sweet in salads or fried.

To store over the Winter, harvest when mature and allow to cure in the sun for a week for
the skin to harden. Store over the Winter in a cool, dry place.
