Cyclamen Planting Guidelines

1. Spring maintenance

Cyclamen belongs to the light loving flowers, and the winter and spring seasons are also the peak flowering period. If you want to make the flower buds lush, you should provide sufficient sunlight during the budding period. It should be placed indoors in a sunny area and applied with phosphorus fertilizer every week. It is best to use a 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate compound fertilizer solution for watering, with a dosage of 100-150 milliliters per pot of cyclamen. Watering should be done every 1-2 days to keep the soil moist. Do not pour too much water, and follow the principle of watering only when the soil is dry. During the flowering period of cyclamen, it is not suitable to apply nitrogen fertilizer, otherwise it will cause excessive growth of branches and leaves, and shorten the lifespan of flowers. When picking leaves or residual flowers, in order to effectively prevent the infection of soft rot disease, we should immediately spray carbendazim 1000-1500 times solution.

2. Summer maintenance

Cyclamen prefers a cool and humid climate, with an optimal growth temperature of 15-20 degrees Celsius. If the temperature exceeds 30 degrees, it is easy to fall leaves and enter a dormant state; When the ambient temperature exceeds 35 degrees, plants are prone to heat decay and even death. The safety of cyclamen over summer is a key management issue. Cyclamen is a low-temperature bulb flower that is most afraid of the hot summer, especially Laoqiu. Although the new ball has strong resistance, it will also stop growing and enter a semi dormant state in hot climate conditions.

Therefore, before the arrival of summer, it is suitable to place newly grown plants in a cool, ventilated and rainproof place, receive some light, and sprinkle water on the shade and ground at noon to effectively reduce temperature. For flowering cyclamen, as the temperature rises in summer, the leaves will gradually wither and turn yellow. At this time, it is necessary to reduce watering to put the bulbs into a dormant state. For newly grown plants, fertilization should generally be stopped and watering should be controlled after June. After the weather cools down, we should increase water and fertilizer to promote the growth of tubers and leaves. Additionally, we need to promptly turn over the pots and replace the soil. From July to August each year, cyclamen enters a dormant state, and all the leaves of the plant fall off. After the weather cools down in September, new shoots sprout, and it is necessary to turn over the pots and replace the soil in a timely manner. When replacing soil, we should try to minimize the damage to new roots and only remove necrotic old roots.

3. Flowering period management

When the young buds of Cyclamen appear, in addition to providing sufficient sunlight, they should also be watered and fertilized reasonably, and the indoor temperature and humidity should be maintained appropriately to achieve bright flower colors and robust plant types. Xiankelai belongs to plants that prefer moisture and are afraid of waterlogging. Excessive water content is not conducive to the growth and development of plants, and even directly causes root rot and death. Based on this, it is necessary to keep the soil moist at this stage. Cyclamen belongs to fertilizer loving plants and should be topically treated with potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution once, avoiding the use of high nitrogen fertilizers.
