Flamboyant huge dark purple flowers cover this plant in summer.  Blooms can reach 6” in diameter with beautifully ruffled petals with fringed edges.  Petunias are very attractive to butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.  Exceptional in hanging baskets. Plants grow 1-2’ in height. Does best in full sun with regular watering.  Annual.

Seed sowing instructions: Sow on the surface of a good seed-starting mix, in warm temperatures, 70-75 degrees F.  Cover seed lightly with fine grit or seed starting mix and keep moist.  Provide light. Plant out after all the risk of frost.

Easy to grow and undemanding, petunias prefer full sun to light shade and average, medium moist, well-drained soil. They tolerate poor soils and is virtually disease and pest free and deer resistant. Although petunias are low-maintenance plants, pinching off the tops of established plants results in bushier plants with a heavier bloom and deadheading regularly encourages and prolongs flowering. Cutting back plants that have declined in summer heat promotes a later bloom as temperatures cool.

Direct sow petunia seed after the last frost and as soon as the soil is warm in spring or start seeds indoors 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost and transplant after all threat of frost has passed.
