Camellia cultivation methods and precautions

Breeding method

  •  Slightly acidic soil

Slightly acidic soil is best for growing camellias. Control the pH value between 5 and 6.5. Home potted plants can use mountain soil: sawdust: phosphate fertilizer powder in a ratio of 5:4:1. Do this before potting. Do a good job of disinfection.

  • Temperature and light

The suitable growth temperature for camellia is between 18 and 25°C. If the temperature is higher than 30°C, it will stop growing. If the temperature is higher than 35°C, the leaves will be burned. Therefore, if the temperature is too high in summer, you need to shade and cool down in time. At the same time, it should be given sufficient light, and it can receive direct sunlight in other seasons except summer.

  • Watering method

Camellias will grow better in a humid environment. Water them every 2 to 3 days in spring and autumn, every day in summer, and once a week in winter. If the air is too dry, spray water around the growing environment. Work.

  • Reasonable fertilization

Camellia needs a lot of fertilizer during the growth period. Fertilize your camellias 2 to 3 times a month. Use rotten pancake fertilizer and water. If you don’t have cake fertilizer and water, you can also buy flower-specific fertilizer when you go to watch flowers.

  • Bud pruning

During the budding stage of camellia, if you find that the flower buds are too dense, you should prune them in time to remove weak branches and weak flower buds to promote better growth of other healthy plants.

Precautions

When planting camellias in pots at home, be careful not to pile the soil in the pot too full, otherwise it will be easy to fill the pot half full, which will affect the plant's root system to absorb water, which is very detrimental to its growth.

During thunderstorms in summer, the camellias should be ventilated frequently, and doors and windows should be opened frequently or moved outdoors for ventilation. Otherwise, the long-term stuffy indoor environment will cause camellia to breed pests and diseases.
